Cheltenham is a vibrant and elegant Regency town located on the edge of the Cotswold Hills. With its stylish shops and restaurants, award-winning gardens and festivals of horse racing, music, science and literature, it is a great place to live and work.  The town is a lively mix of old and new and was voted the ‘Best Place to Live in the South West’ 2020 by The Sunday Times.

Cheltenham Borough Council is an award-winning council and was voted ‘Best Commercial Council’ at the MJ Awards 2019.  We are a small council with around 235 employees, but we have big ambitions:

  • Working with Tewkesbury Borough Council and other partners, we are bringing forward the £400m nationally-significant Golden Valley Development, home of Cyber Central – a new campus and cyber-tech community adjacent to GCHQ

  • In partnership with local entrepreneurs and others, we are delivering the Minster Innovation Exchange, a development of purpose-built commercial space, community and education space in the heart of the town centre

  • With our partners, Cheltenham Borough Homes, we are implementing a multi-million pound housing investment plan and, together with other local agencies, we are delivering a major ‘No Child Left Behind’ project

  • We have declared a climate emergency and aim to be net zero carbon by 2030

Our vision for Cheltenham is ‘a place where everyone thrives’ and, post-pandemic, we believe we have the people, skills and local solutions to drive a recovery that will deliver renewal, improvement and strong, sustainable communities for the future.  We look forward to the new Director of One Legal becoming part of our story and helping us to deliver our ambitions.
